What a day! We took a bus over to Chesky Kumlov in the Chzech Republic and it was amazing. While the town itself is a UNESCO heritage site it was listening to our tour guide on the way there who grew up in Czechoslovakia, understanding what life was like for them. He discussed the Hitler occupation of his parents and grandparents and then the Communist occupation of his childhood and to hear that they could not travel, could not afford cars or washing machines or even that he could remember their first color television that came after the 1993 communist separation was amazing. He told us of his families first trip to Vienna and how they first learned about Legos. Oh how blessed we and our children are, we have no idea what govt control could truly mean. The city of Kumlov was amazing and like going back in time, the castle was truly never occupied or bombed so the city itself is in much of the original order from the 16 and 17th centuries. The family paddled around the city river and the weather was amazing! We came back to the ship in Linz Austria where we were entertained tonight by a hound group of men cultural dancers, it was lots of fun. Now sailing to Melk Austria for AM adventures!
