The Mediterranean – Cassis

After taking the first day of tours off for my knee, on day 2 I got back in the game!  While the Goads and Murphy’s went over to Hyères-les-Palmiers, Phil and I headed to Cassis.  Cassis is a charming little fishing village which has been able to maintain its old world feel.  They do not allow buses into the city or near the harbor but they do have these adorable little trains that transfer you back and forth.  We wandered the city streets, checked out the local market and did a little shopping.  We also took a 1-hour boat tour that took us through 3 calanques which in French means “protection from the wind” but they are basically small inlets with high stone sides with beautifully clear water and pine trees growing right out of them.  After the boat ride it was back to our boat where I iced the knee and took a nap.  I will do a whole separate post to talk about the epicurean events we have had on board with great chefs doing demos of some of their favorite recipes.  We had another great night of food and time together and then it was back to our staterooms to chill and watch the world go by!
