Baseball Takes us to the Best Places!

September took us two wonderful cities on opposite ends of the country to see some great Fall baseball. Philadelphia and San Diego could not be much more different but both beautiful in their own right with two of the best ballparks.

Philadelphia

Isn’t it grand when work travel can take both us to a town that happens to hold a ballpark we had not been to. After Phil and I had our business meetings we went to Citizens Bank Park with a co-worker of mine and his wife to see the Philadelphia Phillies play the Toronto Blue Jays. The park was a great and the weather amazing. The next day before we left town we were able to do a walking tour of downtown Philadelphia starting at the Reading Terminal market full of all kinds of food and treats. Then off to see the sites which is so rich with history including the famed Liberty Bell. It is always fun when you can mix business with pleasure.

San Diego

We just love San Diego and have been a few times but I have never been to Petco Park. These games were at the end of the season and there is great competition between the Padres and Dodgers which could even bleed into the post season. The games were amazing, the park is beautiful and the weather perfect. We also did some sight seeing by jumping on and off a trolley that went to several stops including Coronado Island with its beautiful Hotel Del Coronado that was built in 1888 and is the largest wooden hotel. Other stops we enjoyed were Balboa Park that houses the San Diego Zoo (where we had been before) but also several museums and parks, Little Italy that of course had the most amazing food and gelato. We got in 2 balls games and a ton of sights in just 3 short days.
