We left Boppart this morning and started the trek to Rudesheim which includes the stretch of the Rhine that has more castles per meter than anywhere else in the world. Each turn of the river led us to a new town and castle more beautiful than the last. Some castles are privately owned and some are held by the city or German government. The weather has been amazing with today being about 85. Once we arrived in Rudesheim we took a cable car up above the wineries tot he Neiderwald Monument that was finished in 1883 signifying the unification of Germany. We then strolled the small city streets, samples the local wine and got Phil a few new hats for his birthday. What a day….I will create a separate post for Phils birthday celebration later this evening.

Love all of the castles! If Phil feels too at home, it may because our ancestry goes back to Powderham Castle in England with our 19th great-grandfather on the Owens side in the 1400s. Keep the pictures coming! They’re amazing!
